Job summary

Medallia, Inc. in Tysons, VA, seeks a senior Head of Data Platform & Engineering to own the enterprise data strategy and platform, turning raw data into governed data products for ELT, FP&A, and GTM analytics.

You will lead a small team of engineers and analysts, guiding architecture, governance, and AI enablement. The role requires 10+ years in data engineering with 5+ years leading teams, strong SQL/dbt skills, and experience with Snowflake, Airflow, and BI tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering and/or data platform management, including 5+ years leading a data platform, data engineering, and/or analytics team.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and dbt to transform raw data into analysis-ready tables and views.
• Experience architecting and operating cloud data platforms at enterprise scale (e.g., Snowflake) with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster).
• Experience delivering data platform strategy end-to-end from architecture to governance and adoption.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into clear data models, metrics, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise data strategy and architecture for the data platform.
• Build knowledge of GTM, product telemetry, and financial reporting needs; translate priorities into data products and a roadmap.
• Partner with analytics teams to gather requirements and run an agile delivery model.
• Provide hands-on leadership and coaching to a small team of data engineers and analysts.
• Define and maintain data governance standards with data owners across the business.
• Lead evaluation and rollout of self-service analytics and AI enablement tools.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on data initiatives that support revenue growth.
• Oversee core data platform tech stack and analytics/visualization tools.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI to data workflows and reporting.
