Duckbill, a Heavybit-backed Cloud FinOps SaaS company, is hiring a Head of Engineering in San Francisco to lead Skyway’s development. This builder-first role ships code daily while scaling an elite team capable of handling terabytes of complex billing data and thousands of cloud providers.

You’ll architect data infrastructure using Python, ClickHouse, and Airflow to support a 50x data volume increase and guide high-stakes technical decisions at scale.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and recruiting high-performing engineering teams as a Director or VP of Engineering.
• Deep expertise in data infrastructure, including large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and columnar storage solutions.
• Pragmatic “builder” mindset with a preference for shipping working software over long-term planning and corporate bureaucracy.

Responsibilities

• Ship production-ready code daily and eliminate architectural bottlenecks to maintain high development velocity.
• Recruit and mentor a world-class engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and rapid execution.
• Design and scale data infrastructure using Python, ClickHouse, and Airflow to support a 50x increase in data volume.
