Head of Engineering – Energy & Building Performance
Location: Remote, United States
A fast-growing energy and building-infrastructure company is looking for an experienced engineering leader to take ownership of the technical development and performance of projects across a national commercial-property portfolio.
The business develops and delivers integrated solutions across energy efficiency, HVAC controls and automation, solar PV, battery storage and related building infrastructure. Its work is focused on reducing energy costs, improving building performance and delivering measurable long-term value for customers.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a lean, entrepreneurial business where engineering sits close to commercial decision-making and project delivery. The successful candidate will lead and develop the engineering team, establish technical standards and remain closely involved in project development, savings analysis, controls strategy, commissioning and troubleshooting.
You’ll take ownership of engineering quality across the project lifecycle, from initial assessment and technical development through implementation and ongoing performance.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
We’re looking for someone with experience leading energy engineering, energy services, building performance, performance contracting or a related area.
You should have a strong background in commercial building systems and be comfortable working across HVAC, controls and wider energy-efficiency measures. Experience taking projects from initial assessment through technical development and delivery will be important.
Strong experience in several of the following areas would be particularly relevant:
Experience gained within energy services, performance contracting, building controls, distributed energy or a related technical environment would be particularly relevant.
Experience with BAS platforms such as Niagara/Tridium or similar systems would be useful. Familiarity with solar PV and battery storage, particularly where these technologies are being integrated alongside energy-efficiency measures, would also be advantageous.
A degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural, energy or a related engineering discipline is preferred, although equivalent relevant industry experience will also be considered. Professional credentials such as PE or CEM would be advantageous.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants real ownership of an engineering function while remaining close to the technical work. The role offers broad exposure across project development, engineering, controls, solar, storage, implementation and operational performance, with the opportunity to help shape how the business delivers projects as it grows.
