Job summary

Green Recruitment Company is seeking an Energy Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership across Sales and Operations. You will develop energy solutions, savings calculations, project economics, and M&V strategies for large commercial/industrial clients.

In this role you will collaborate with Sales, Operations, and external engineering partners through opportunity development, proposals, and execution.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical construction for large-scale commercial energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of energy savings calculations for HVAC, chillers, boilers, and industrial systems.
  • Experience with lighting, electrical systems, energy storage, and solar technologies.
  • Experience with RFP development and scope-of-work refinement.
  • Experience supporting technical sales cycles and structured opportunity qualification processes.
  • Strong customer-facing and presentation skills with ability to communicate with C-suite executives, operators, engineers, and maintenance teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and present technical content for sales proposals, serving as the technical SME.
  • Present technical and commercial aspects of energy solutions, including billing, O&M, M&V, auditing, and project economics.
  • Conduct site walks and assessments to identify energy-saving opportunities and support scoping.
  • Support Sales Executives in presenting proposals and explaining technical/financial bases.
  • Provide technical content for executive reviews and customer presentations.
  • Utilize screening tools to evaluate prospective sites and energy savings opportunities.
  • Manage third-party design, engineering, and pre-construction partners.
  • Define project scope, pricing, schedules, and technical requirements while overseeing deliverables.
  • Review engineering calculations, models, and NTP documentation for accuracy.
  • Apply value engineering to optimize costs while maintaining quality/value.
  • Coordinate handoff of information from sales to operations and delivery teams.
  • Provide engineering support during project execution as needed.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, best practices, KPIs.
  • Energy Engineering SME for internal knowledge sharing and marketing materials.
  • Provide savings calculations expertise for mechanical systems (central plants, HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressors).
  • Apply M&V protocols, ASHRAE standards, and energy auditing principles throughout development.
  • Review energy audit findings and participate in partner audits as required.
  • Conduct occasional direct audits of facilities.
  • Develop and scope RFPs for energy-saving initiatives and facility improvements.
  • Participate in fieldwork, pilots, and R&D activities as needed.
  • Provide technical training materials for sales teams and act as SME for marketing.

The Role

We are seeking an Energy Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership across Sales and Operations. The role combines energy engineering expertise with technical sales experience to develop and present energy solutions, savings calculations, project economics, and M&V strategies.

You will work closely with Sales, Operations, and external engineering and construction partners throughout the project lifecycle from opportunity development and proposal through execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Engineering

  • Develop and present technical content for sales presentations, proposals, and customer meetings, serving as the technical subject matter expert.

  • Present technical and commercial aspects of energy efficiency solutions, including billing, O&M, M&V, auditing, construction, savings calculations, and project economics.

  • Conduct site walks and technical assessments to evaluate facility systems, identify energy-saving opportunities, and support project scoping and feasibility.

  • Support Sales Executives in presenting finalized proposals and explaining the technical and financial basis of proposed solutions.

  • Provide technical content and subject matter expertise for executive business reviews and customer presentations.

  • Utilize screening and analysis tools to evaluate prospective sites and identify energy savings opportunities.

Delivery Engineering

  • Manage third-party design, engineering, and pre-construction partners throughout project development.

  • Define project scope, objectives, pricing, schedules, and technical requirements while overseeing partner deliverables.

  • Review engineering calculations, project models, NTP documentation, and third-party deliverables for accuracy, quality, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Apply value engineering principles to optimize project costs while maintaining technical quality and customer value.

  • Coordinate the transition of customer information, project scope, technical documentation, and project context from sales into the operations and delivery teams.

  • Provide engineering support throughout project execution as required.

  • Develop and implement engineering standards, best practices, processes, and KPIs to improve project development and delivery.

  • Energy Engineering Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on energy engineering and energy efficiency solutions.

  • Provide technical expertise in savings calculations for mechanical systems, including central plants, HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressors, and industrial process equipment.

  • Apply M&V protocols, ASHRAE standards, energy auditing principles, and RFP/scope-of-work development throughout project development.

  • Review energy audit findings and participate in partner-led audits when required.

  • Conduct occasional direct audits of commercial and industrial facilities.

  • Develop and scope RFPs for energy-saving initiatives and facility improvement projects.

  • Participate in fieldwork, pilots, innovation initiatives, and R&D activities as needed.

  • Product, Marketing & Training

  • Provide technical and customer feedback to product and marketing teams regarding new products and solutions.

  • Develop and deliver technical training materials for sales teams.

  • Serve as a technical SME for marketing materials, campaigns, and market development initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical construction, commercial processes, and the construction cycle for large-scale commercial energy projects.

  • Strong knowledge of energy savings calculations for mechanical systems, including HVAC, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and industrial process equipment.

  • Preferred experience with lighting, electrical systems, energy storage, and solar technologies.

  • Experience with RFP development and scope-of-work refinement.

  • Experience supporting technical sales cycles and structured opportunity qualification processes.

  • Strong customer-facing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with C-suite executives, facility operators, engineers, and maintenance teams.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce and other sales or project management tools.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in energy engineering, technical sales, energy project development, or energy project construction.

  • PE and/or CEM certification preferred.

  • Construction management experience preferred.

  • Procurement experience preferred.
