Job summary

American Innovations is seeking a Senior Manager - Firmware and Hardware Engineering in Austin, TX. You will lead a small, senior team across firmware, electronics, and mechanical engineering, establishing architecture and system-level design standards for rugged embedded systems.

You will drive AI-first practices, ensure robust design reviews, and balance hands-on direction with strategic leadership in a player-coach role.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years shipping embedded products with deep firmware expertise.
2+ years leading engineers as a people manager or tech lead.
Electronics literacy to review schematics and layout, power trade-offs.
Mechanical fluency for packaging, DFM, and supplier work.
Experience using AI tools in engineering or management roles.
Track record from concept through production and field performance.
Experience with firmware test automation or HIL systems.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership across firmware, electronics, and mechanical domains to ship an integrated system.
Champion an AI-first design framework across disciplines and processes.
Set firmware standards, architecture, and field-release hygiene while guiding system decisions.
Oversee multi-discipline programs from concept to production and field performance.
Lead a small, cross-functional team and grow capabilities through mentoring.
