Job description

Location: San Francisco, CA – relocation highly preferred

We are partnering with a well-funded, venture-backed AI infrastructure company that is developing next-generation, high-density data center facilities across the United States.

The company develops sites end-to-end, from securing land and power through construction, commissioning and delivery of AI-ready facilities.

Following significant growth in its development pipeline, the business is looking to appoint a Head of Data Center Delivery to take executive ownership of the delivery of large-scale, high-density data center projects.

The Role

Reporting directly to the founders, you will have overall accountability for delivering data center projects on time, on budget and against customer commitments.

You will take projects from secured site through construction and Ready for Service (RFS), coordinating Site Development, EPC, MEP and Operations as one integrated delivery program.

This is a highly commercial, hands-on leadership position. You will own project budgets and schedules, contracting strategy, contractor performance and customer delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the full delivery P&L, budget and master schedule from site handover through RFS.
  • Lead delivery of large-scale, high-density data center developments.
  • Establish and manage the critical path across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Structure and negotiate GC/EPC delivery models including GMP, Design-Build and EPCM.
  • Negotiate contract terms, risk allocation, liquidated damages and commercial structures.
  • Lead competitive procurement and open-book reviews of GC and subcontractor pricing.
  • Manage integrated delivery across Site Development, EPC, MEP Engineering and Operations.
  • Control change orders, contingency, claims and schedule risk.
  • Hold general contractors, EPC partners and major subcontractors accountable for cost and schedule performance.
  • Partner with engineering teams on constructability and value engineering.
  • Work with Finance on draw schedules, cost-to-complete forecasting and project reporting.
  • Act as the senior delivery interface with hyperscale and AI infrastructure customers.
  • Translate customer capacity, density, phasing and RFS requirements into executable delivery programs.
Candidate Profile
  • 7+ years of mission-critical/data center construction and delivery experience.
  • A track record delivering at least one large, multi-phase data center campus from groundbreaking through RFS.
  • Experience delivering major capital programs in the 100MW+ / $500M+ range.
  • Strong commercial knowledge of GC/EPC contracts, GMP conversions, contractor margins, contingency and claims management.
  • Deep understanding of data center construction including site works, high-voltage infrastructure, power generation, MEP fit-out, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience owning customer-facing RFS commitments for hyperscale, cloud or AI infrastructure customers.
  • Strong knowledge of long-lead electrical and mechanical equipment and established relationships across the contractor/OEM ecosystem.
  • Experience operating across multiple projects simultaneously with lean internal teams and external delivery partners.

This position is particularly suited to a senior delivery or construction leader currently working within a hyperscale data center developer, AI infrastructure company, major owner/operator or Tier-1 mission-critical EPC organization.

This is an opportunity to move away from managing one part of a large established organization and instead become one of the key executives responsible for building a new AI infrastructure platform from the ground up.

The successful individual will have significant influence over how projects are contracted, built and delivered as the company's development pipeline scales.

San Francisco is strongly preferred, with regular travel to development and construction sites across the United States.
