Job summary

Axle Informatics is seeking an Associate Director of Data and Modeling to lead data engineering, AI/ML, and scientific computing across biomedical research programs. You will build durable, reusable capabilities, guide teams, and collaborate with scientists and federal partners to turn complex data into actionable insights.

You will design and operate production-grade systems, establish technical standards, manage risk, and grow leaders while delivering high-impact research outcomes with rigor

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in software/data engineering, ML, or computational science.
• Five+ years leading multidisciplinary teams with hiring and delivery responsibility.
• Proven design, build, deployment, and operation of production-grade data/AI systems.
• Strong judgment across modern data/AI architectures and CI/CD practices.
• Experience moving research into production with monitoring and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for data platforms and AI/ML systems.
• Lead data engineering, modeling, and simulation across programs.
• Establish standards for reproducible workflows and governance.
• Guide production data pipelines with quality, lineage, and versioning.
• Partner with scientists and government stakeholders to deliver impact.
