You will report to our VP of Communications. As a key member of our Marketing & Communications Team, you’ll drive awareness, adoption, and engagement by creating pitches to help build and tell our brand story; develop and maintain strong relationships with key media personalities; lead national media outreach and land top-tier media hits.

We’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the world's largest social change platform with 100 million users, 40,000+ campaigns launched on the site every month, and a 100% user-generated revenue model. Our users win campaigns for change once every hour. We’re working for a world where no one is powerless, and where creating change is a part of everyday life. We’re just getting started and hope you’ll join us!

From mobilizing over 5 million people to investigate the fires in the Amazon, to mobilizing nearly 3 million against war and famine in Yemen, to large-scale mobilizations for the people of Iran and against the war in Ukraine, and calling for Racial Justice in the US, many movements were born on Change.org. Dozens of local, national, and international victories are happening every day thanks to the strength of our members who are changing the lives of people around the world. We want to help them go even further and we need your help!

Responsibilities:

  • Craft compelling, creative, and strategic pitches that effectively communicate our brand story, driving increased brand awareness, adoption, and sustained engagement among key audiences.
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain robust, lasting relationships with influential national media personalities, including producers, editors, journalists, podcast hosts, and digital influencers.
  • Lead proactive national media outreach initiatives, consistently securing top-tier media placements through the identification and strategic pitching of impactful and newsworthy stories.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams on the design and execution of targeted US campaigns, aligning media strategies and capitalizing on timely media opportunities to maximize brand visibility.

Core competencies:

  • Extensive and active network with national media professionals, including producers, editors, journalists, influencers, bookers, and podcast hosts, along with a proven history of securing high-profile media coverage.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, demonstrating clarity, persuasion, and effectiveness across diverse channels.
  • Proven experience in high-quality content production, capable of tailoring content to varied platforms and audience needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal stakeholders and external partners, effectively driving strategic communication objectives.
  • Deep and current understanding of the evolving media landscape, with strategic insights into leveraging the most influential and relevant channels to amplify brand presence and message resonance.

Target experience:

  • 7+ years direct experience within media, strategic communications, and public relations, ideally within high-profile environments.
  • Track record of engaging national and influential media that reach millions on a weekly basis.
  • Proven results consistently landing top tier media coverage.
  • Crisis Communication Expertise: Proven experience in developing and implementing crisis communication strategies, effectively managing high-pressure situations to safeguard and enhance the organization's reputation.
  • Digital Media Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to leverage digital communication tools and social media platforms to engage audiences, monitor public sentiment, and disseminate information effectively.
