Job summary

Engel Excavating LLC is seeking a Safety Director to lead our safety program, protect our workforce, and raise our safety culture across Midwest sitework projects. You will oversee policies, training, and compliance, coordinating with Superintendents, HR, and fleet management to prevent hazards and incidents.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of safety leadership in construction, OSHA certification, and relevant training.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related safety leadership experience in construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engel’s safety program and create proactive safety protocols.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform in-house site safety training and regulatory compliance.
• Develop weekly Toolbox Talks, Safety Alerts, and JHAs using HCSS.
• Ensure OSHA, DOT and related regulations are followed.
• Maintain OSHA 300, 300A, 301 records and regulatory reports.
• Maintain safety training records, certifications, and documentation.
• Coordinate PPE selection, distribution, and monitoring.
• Conduct job site audits and address safety concerns; promote safe behavior.
• Work with Superintendents on locates; collaborate with HR on claims.
• Assist Fleet Manager with FMCSA/DOT permits and registrations.
• Serve as safety resource for employees and leadership.
