Job summary

The California Department of Public Health, Office of Data Strategy, seeks a Clinical Informatics Supervisor II to lead the Systems, Integration, and Pipelines Unit. You will supervise data engineers and informaticists, oversee enterprise data pipelines, and advance cloud-native architecture to ensure accurate, reliable statewide data infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
• Minimum 5+ years of directly related experience.
• Minimum 3+ years lead, supervisory and/or manager experience.
• Strong skills in SQL, R, and/or Python, and familiarity with Apache Spark for large-scale processing.
• Knowledge of enterprise data engineering, governance, metadata standards, data modeling, data integration, and distributed compute frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise informatics team and data engineers; oversee enterprise data modernization projects.
• Improve interoperability across CDPH enterprise systems and partners.
• Lead teams in data collection, transformation, governance, metadata, and data access systems.
• Develop data pipelines, data models, and metadata systems; ensure data quality and reliability.
• Provide leadership in informatics, data exchange processes, and operational reliability.
