Job description

We are looking for a Director of Civil Engineering to join our team!

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Civil Engineering practice (e.g., setting technical standards, design methodologies, and project delivery frameworks)
• Provide technical oversight and quality control for civil engineering deliverables
• Manage and mentor civil engineering staff
• Oversee project execution from concept through construction, ensuring schedules, budgets, and client expectations are met or exceeded
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, market positioning, and growth opportunities within civil/site development
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with developers, architects, municipalities, and other partners
• Support business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and participation in industry events
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including planning, surveying, landscape architecture, and external consultants
• Monitor project financial performance, including staffing plans, fee utilization, and profitability of civil engineering projects
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery, technical innovation, and operational efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution
• Fifteen + years progressive experience in civil engineering design with a focus on project management and leadership
• Strategic thinker and problem solver
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, concepts, and practices
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in engineering software tools such as Civil 3D
• PE license required
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Experience managing teams required
