Job summary

Confidential Biotech in Massachusetts is seeking an accomplished leader to establish and head the Cellular Biology function. This role combines strategic science with hands-on execution to shape therapeutic discovery in hematologic diseases.

You will build capabilities, generate mechanistic data, and collaborate across R&D to advance programs toward the clinic, initially dedicating ~50% bench work while the team scales.

Qualifications

• PhD with 8+ years in pharmacology, cell biology, hematology or related field; or MS with 10+ years in biopharma.
• Expert bone marrow biology and hematology background with drug discovery experience.
• Hands-on experience developing cell-based models of hematologic diseases.
• Strong expertise in kinase biology and intracellular signaling.
• Experience with scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN and data integration.
• Proven leadership and cross-functional program management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build the Cellular Biology function with strategy and experimental standards.
• Develop cell-based translational models of hematologic diseases, focusing on bone marrow biology.
• Characterize pharmacodynamic and mechanistic properties of novel therapeutics.
• Identify druggable targets and opportunities addressing unmet hematologic needs.
• Investigate signaling pathways to understand therapeutic response and cellular effects.
• Apply scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and CUT&RUN to define cellular states and mechanisms.
• Integrate multi-omic data to guide drug-discovery strategy.
• Develop assays such as flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA and primary-cell culture.
• Support candidate selection and go/no-go decisions for programs.
• Collaborate with CROs and internal teams to enable timely data delivery.
