Location : Prefer Newport Beach, CA, Washington, DC, or New York, NY. However, it could be fully remote with significant travel for the right qualified applicant.

Position

The Head of Capital Markets – Separate Accounts will be responsible for leading the sourcing and cultivation of institutional equity capital for separate accounts, with a focus on pension funds, endowments, foundations, and other institutional investors. The Head of Capital Markets will play a pivotal role in driving capital-raising efforts, fostering investor relationships, and structuring equity investments to support the firm’s growth in the institutional separate account space.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial real estate capital markets, with proven experience raising significant capital from institutional investors.

Responsibilities

• Source and cultivate institutional equity capital from pension funds, endowments, foundations, and other investors.
• Develop and manage relationships with existing and prospective investors to align with strategic objectives.
• Structure equity investments, including joint ventures, co-investments, and separate accounts, in collaboration with acquisitions and asset management teams.
• Develop and implement capital markets strategies aligned with firm growth goals, informed by market trends and investor sentiment.
• Lead financial modeling, investment memoranda, and presentation development to support capital-raising efforts.
• Oversee execution of capital transactions, including negotiations, documentation, and closings, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align capital markets initiatives with overall investment strategy.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development.
• Provide timely reporting and communication to investors and internal stakeholders on portfolio performance and capital activity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in commercial real estate capital markets, with at least 5 years focused on institutional equity fundraising and separate accounts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Willingness to travel as needed for investor meetings, industry events, and site visits (approximately 25–30% of the time).

• Deep understanding of commercial real estate investment strategies, particularly in office, industrial, retail, and multifamily sectors.
• Expertise in financial modeling, deal structuring, and investment analysis.
• Strong network of institutional investor relationships (pension funds, endowments, etc.).
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment strategies to sophisticated audiences.
• Proficiency in industry tools such as Argus, Excel, and CRM platforms.
• Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. High integrity, with a commitment to transparency and investor trust.
