Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to lead autonomous AI systems and platforms. You will shape strategy, oversee development, and drive collaboration across product, sales, and engineering to deliver AI-powered products at scale.

The role requires strong AI/ML expertise, people leadership, and a track record of building reliable, compliant AI systems in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus 8+ years of AI/ML experience or a Master's with 6+ years.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Define strategic vision and oversee the growth of autonomous AI systems and platforms.
• Provide technical leadership for design, development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows.
• Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the agentic AI platform.
• Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the platform, from development to sunsetting legacy offerings.
• Guide technical teams and ensure platform scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, product management, sales and other engineering teams.
• Act as a champion for the platform and influence enterprise decision-making.
• Foster a culture of innovation and ethical AI practices.
