Job summary

Davidson College is seeking a Director of Athletics Mental Health & Performance to lead the division, set strategic direction, and oversee education, outreach, and crisis services for scholar-athletes. You will collaborate with coaches, staff, and health services to support personal, academic, and athletic success.

The role requires a master’s in sports psychology, NC licensure, and 3–4 years of experience with scholar-athletes; doctoral work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in sports psychology or related field required.
• License in NC or eligible for NC licensure is required.
• 3–4 years' experience with scholar-athletes in athletics setting.
• Experience with performance enhancement and counseling services.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and strategic direction for Mental Health & Performance division.
• Develop staff, interns and consultants; manage budgets and planning.
• Lead policy development and annual department goals.
• Oversee program assessments, outcomes and quality improvement.
• Advise Athletics leadership on scholar-athlete mental health initiatives.
• Coordinate referrals to Student Health & Well-Being; ensure documentation.
• Design and implement sports psychology education for athletes and coaches.
• Facilitate crisis intervention and emergency response protocols.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA and conference policies; engage committees.
• Collaborate with campus partners and external stakeholders.
