Job summary

Davidson College seeks a Director of Athletics Mental Health & Performance to lead the division dedicated to scholar-athlete wellbeing and performance. The role oversees clinical engagement, training, and policy development within the Athletics Department.

You will collaborate with coaches, staff, and campus partners to build comprehensive care, manage budgets, and advance preventive programs, crisis response, and culturally aware services for a Division I athletics environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in sports psychology or a terminal degree in another appropriate human services field.
• Licensed in North Carolina or eligible for licensure.
• 3–4 years of experience working with scholar-athletes in an athletic setting.
• Experience providing performance enhancement strategies as well as supporting counseling, mental health services and crisis intervention.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population and adapt to various backgrounds and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Mental Health and Performance division and manage budget.
• Develop policies, annual goals, and staff development plans.
• Design educational programming on sports psychology, mental health, and resilience.
• Coordinate clinical referrals and crisis management for scholar-athletes.
• Ensure NCAA/Conference compliance and collaboration with stakeholders.
• Support training, consultation, and outreach to coaches, staff and scholar-athletes.
