Job summary

Schmalz is seeking a Manager, Applications Engineering for Handling Systems to lead the day-to-day operations of the team, delivering responsive and technically sound support to customers, distributors and the sales organization.

The role requires people leadership, strong customer-facing communication, and the ability to drive safe, commercially viable engineering solutions while balancing priorities and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in applications engineering or related technical field.
• Proven people-leadership experience; prior direct management preferred.
• Ability to evaluate complex technical applications and guide engineers toward viable solutions.
• Strong customer-facing communication, presentation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience managing workload, priorities and performance metrics in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, sales, operations, product management and leadership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Handling Systems Applications Engineering team.
• Provide responsive, accurate, technically sound support to customers, distributors and sales.
• Evaluate complex applications and guide engineers toward safe, practical solutions.
• Balance customer urgency with technical risk and commercial objectives.
• Travel domestically ~15% with occasional international travel.
