Job summary

Lazard is seeking a Head of AI Operations in New York to translate AI strategy into durable operating capabilities. You will drive end-to-end AI governance, lifecycle management, and risk controls across the firm’s AI initiatives, working with engineering, data science, and security teams.

This role emphasizes scalable, responsible deployment of AI, with collaboration across technology, business, and control functions to report on health, risks, and dependencies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading technology operations, platform operations, or data/analytics operations
• Direct experience supporting AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics systems in production environments and the corresponding operational risk, controls, and governance principles
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and operate effectively in complex organizational settings
• Exceptional communication skills and influencing abilities to build consensus and drive collegial cross-functional collaboration
• Experience designing or leading AI or analytics operating models at scale strongly preferred
• Background in engineering, data science, or technology risk earlier in career

Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end AI operating model across development, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
• Establish consistent operational standards across AI initiatives, agents, teams, and business lines.
• Oversee production readiness for AI models and applications, including testing and access controls.
• Establish evaluation practices for generative AI applications, measuring accuracy and safety.
• Partner with engineering, data science, and security to threat-model and harden AI systems.
• Monitor production AI performance, data quality, usage, and security; coordinate remediation.
• Implement governance for explainability, documentation, and human oversight.
• Coordinate AI operations across technology, business, and control functions; report health risks.
• Build strong relationships with advisory teams and senior leaders to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions.
