Carnegie Mellon University seeks an inaugural Chief Scientific Operations Officer to lead the Biological & Chemical Innovation Cloud Lab (BCICL), a foundational component of the AI Science Foundry. The CSOO will architect remote-enabled laboratory operations, cloud-based workflows, and multi-disciplinary teams to accelerate discovery and scale execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the BCICL operational organization across research, education, partnerships, and external users.
• Define operating standards, quality systems, metrics, governance, and service models.
• Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; plan for long-term investments.
• Ensure facilities, safety, cybersecurity, biosafety, and regulatory compliance.
