Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Lab Group Manager in GM R&D to lead a team of scientists and engineers, shaping a portfolio of advanced manufacturing research and validating next-gen manufacturing technologies for GM’s global factories.

You will partner with manufacturing and product engineering, drive projects from idea to deployment, mentor a high-performing team, and advance safety and IP strategies through collaborations with academia, government, and industry.

Qualifications

• PhD in a Science or Engineering discipline, or a master’s degree + 5–7 years of experience.
• Proven experience as both technical and people leader guiding multi-disciplinary teams.
• Hands-on innovation management from idea to validation and deployment.
• Deep expertise in manufacturing technology including design, build and testing in high-volume environments.
• Ability to drive collaboration across diverse teams, customers and external partners.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing with strong critical-thinking skills.
