Fairleigh Dickinson University is seeking a Head Men’s Volleyball Coach for the Metro program at the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, NJ. The role leads an NCAA Division I program, oversees coaching staff, player development, and recruitment in line with NCAA/District guidelines.

The incumbent reports to the Sr VP/Director of Athletics and manages a 12‑month, exempt professional position with a comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Three years’ experience as a men’s volleyball coach at intercollegiate or high school level.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules a plus.
• Commitment to student-athlete academic progress and development.
• Evidence of recruiting success in designated sport programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• First Aid and CPR certification or to obtain during 90-day period.
• Willingness to travel and work varied hours including evenings/weekends.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; MVC background check required.
• Background check completion and Social Security card required.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and the Rothman Center, theHead Men’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for organizing andconducting an intercollegiate athletic program at the Division Ilevel. The program shall be conducted under the rules andregulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association,Division I, the Northeast Conference, and the University. Theincumbent is also responsible for supervising Assistant Coaches;teaching, evaluating and refining sport specific skill developmentfor student-athletes; and recruitment of qualified student-athleteswithin the university and NCAA Division I guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• 1. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• 2. Three years experience as a Men’s Volleyball coach at theintercollegiate or high school levels, and highly competitivepersonal playing experience.
• 3. Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations a plus.
• 4. Commitment to support the academic progress and development ofstudent-athletes.
• 5. Evidence of recruiting success in (*insert designated sport)programs.
• 6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• 7. Must have a First Aid and CPR certification or obtain themduring the 90 day Introductory Period. National Red Crosscertification preferred.
• 8. Willingness to travel and work varied hours including eveningsand weekends.

• 9. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record inaccordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle policy. A MVC checkwill be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemedappropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be requiredto sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.
