Job description

Head Men's Basketball Coach

Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Head Men's Basketball Coach in our Athletics Department.

The Head Men's Basketball Coach is a member of the administrative staff of Chatham University, reports to the Director of Athletics, and directly supervises assistant coaches, student support personnel, and student athletes.

The coach is responsible for the overall development and management of the Men's Basketball Program, including organizational and administrative duties outlined below:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate within the University to plan, organize, implement, and follow up on recruiting efforts through various contacts with prospective student athletes.
  2. Ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  3. Oversee the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of assistant coaches and support staff.
  4. Coordinate athletic planning, program development, and assessment focusing on athlete performance and leadership development:
  • Build a competitive program at the conference's highest levels and establish strong regional recruiting ties.
  • Plan and execute scheduling, travel arrangements, and tournaments to promote the program and optimize resources.
  • Prepare athletes for competition through analysis and breakdown of games.
  • Develop and implement training, conditioning, and skills development programs.
  • Cultivate alumni and community relations to support the program and department goals.
  1. Manage the program's budget and resources.
  2. Plan athletic events that foster campus community and pride.
  3. Maintain safety protocols at all times.
  4. Ensure adherence to all governing rules, policies, and regulations.
  5. Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and staff to meet departmental goals.
  6. Support student-athlete retention, academic success, and leadership development in coordination with faculty and staff.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletics Department.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of coaching experience, computer proficiency, and a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Continuous hearing and seeing (with 20/20 acuity), and varying physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, and manual manipulation, as detailed in the original description.
