Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Chief Medical Physicist to lead the Radiation Oncology medical physics service. You will plan, implement, and oversee treatment planning, dosimetry, QA, and safety programs while collaborating with radiology and oncology leaders to optimize patient care.

The role requires a Ph.D./M.S. in Medical Physics, board certification, and strong supervisory skills. A comprehensive safety program and staff development are key elements of the position.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Radiation Therapeutic Medical Physics or equivalent.
• Board Certification as a Medical Physicist (ABR, ABMP, or equivalent).
• In-depth knowledge of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures, and techniques.
• Strong supervisory, communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Advanced knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations for radiation therapy services.
• Broad product knowledge to develop purchasing specifications.

Responsibilities

• Establishes the treatment planning service with Radiology Director and physicians.
• Determines staffing of junior physicists and dosimetrists; recruits and trains staff.
• Develops equipment specs for therapy, simulation, planning, brachytherapy, and detection equipment.
• Creates procedures for evaluation of therapy, simulation, planning, and QA processes.
• Oversees activities of physicists, dosimetrists, and simulation therapists.
• Maintains clinical radiation safety programs and QA for equipment and processes.
