Mid-Pacific Institute seeks a Head Coach for Judo (Sensei) to lead middle and high school student‑athletes, designing regular practice schedules, recruiting and mentoring assistants, and coordinating with the Athletic Department to maintain a competitive program.

This temporary, seasonal role includes supervising staff, evaluating athletes, and implementing safety protocols, with a stipend paid at season end. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • Preferred: proven experience as a successful head coach with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop student‑athletes through safe and effective drills, skills, strategies, and lesson planning.
  • Motivate and support student‑athletes using positive reinforcement.
  • Provide off‑season training opportunities to improve individual and team performance.
  • Track daily attendance and communicate with student‑athletes and parents regarding absences.
  • Monitor athlete eligibility per Mid‑Pacific/ILH/HHSAA regulations.
  • Maintain and secure all equipment; report broken or unsafe items to the Athletic Department.
  • Assist with issuing and returning team uniforms and equipment.
  • Monitor academic performance to support student success.
  • Communicate team equipment and supply needs to the Athletic Department.
