Job Description

Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Head Golf Course Mechanic for Barton Creek Country Club.

The Head Golf Course Mechanic will oversee maintenance and repair of golf and grounds equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on gasoline- and diesel-powered golf course equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and golf carts.
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment longevity and performance.
  • Inspect and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on maintenance machinery.
  • Maintain detailed service records using computerized systems for inventory, compliance, and reporting.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, lubricated, and operational daily.
  • Perform reel grinding and blade sharpening to maintain turf quality.
  • Modify and set up equipment for operational needs and course conditions.
  • Apply welding and light fabrication for repairs and customizations.
  • Manage recycling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials following safety and environmental standards.
  • Train staff on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with the superintendent and team, participating in trainings and meetings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Mechanic.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Deep knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, reel grinding, and equipment sharpening.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance management.
  • Familiarity with golf car maintenance and utility vehicles.
  • Computer skills for inventory and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to train staff on equipment use and safety.
  • Understanding of golf operations affecting equipment scheduling.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions while performing repairs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate to heavy items.

Working Environment:

  • Outdoor conditions with varying weather.
  • Proximity to active golf play areas.
  • Exposure to machinery and equipment hazards.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Hand tools, trimming tools, transportation vehicles.
  • Chainsaws, pole saws, mowing equipment, tractors, backhoes.
  • Spot sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, mixing equipment.
