Job Description

The Head Golf Course Mechanic will oversee the maintenance and repair of golf and grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

1. Lead routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and golf carts.
2. Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment longevity and performance.
3. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across all machinery.
4. Keep detailed service records using computerized systems for inventory and compliance.
5. Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, lubricated, and operational daily.
6. Perform reel grinding and blade sharpening to maintain turf quality standards.
7. Modify and set up equipment to meet operational needs.
8. Apply welding and fabrication techniques for repairs and customizations.
9. Manage hazardous materials safely and in compliance with regulations.
10. Train staff on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
11. Communicate effectively with superintendents and team members and participate in training and meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Mechanic
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Deep knowledge of gasoline/diesel engines, hydraulic systems, reel grinding, and equipment sharpening
• Ability to analyze and solve equipment problems efficiently
• Experience in preventative maintenance management
• Familiarity with golf cart and utility vehicle maintenance
• Computer skills for inventory and recordkeeping
• Ability to train staff on equipment use and safety
• Understanding of golf course operations and equipment scheduling
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy items
