Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York is seeking a Head Designer to lead the creative vision and development of collections that align with brand identity and business goals. The role involves steering a design team, collaborating with the Design Director and Merchandising, and driving trend-driven product development.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in apparel design across off-price, department store, or club retailers, with strong Illustrator/Photoshop skills, and readiness to travel

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of relevant design experience.
• Experience designing for off-price, department store and/or club retailers.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Willing to travel internationally.
• Experience managing multiple brands at once.

Responsibilities

• Direct the creative vision and development of collections that stay true to brand identity while meeting customer and business goals
• Lead and develop the design team by providing creativity, direction and development.
• Collaborate with the Design Director and Merchandising team to create new concepts, direction, color palettes, fabrications, and trends
• Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, fabrics, colors, and silhouettes to drive new innovation
• Oversee fittings and give direction to ensure alignment with the aesthetic
• Evaluate selling performance and customer feedback to drive new product development
• Confirm design packages, artwork, and technical information are completed properly and on schedule
• Assess strike-offs, lap dips, prototypes, and samples to confirm design and quality are met
