Position Overview

Position: Head Day Custodian
Location: Crystal Learning Center
Salary: Category IB, $28.63 to $29.72 per hour plus benefits (2024-25 salary schedule)
Hours: 8.5 hours/day (6:30 am - 3:00 pm), 52 weeks/year

Major Functions

Supervise custodial staff, maintain building systems and equipment, oversee preventative and daily maintenance, ensure cleanliness, and supervise security and safety operations.

Responsibilities

• Report to Director of Building and Grounds, work with building principal and program director.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility systems.
• Operate security, HVAC, lighting, and building automation systems.
• Use electronic work order system for requests and documentation.
• Prepare rooms for events, maintain cleanliness, and monitor exterior site conditions.
• Ensure safety and security protocols are followed, respond to alarms, and perform emergency tasks.
• Lead custodial staff in the absence of the supervisor, complete evaluations, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Residence within 30 miles of the facility.
• Experience with building systems, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• First-class boiler license or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to operate and monitor building systems and perform physical tasks.

Preferred Training

• VoTech education or training in building maintenance or electrical/mechanical systems.

Physical Requirements

• Strenuous labor, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working at heights.
