Job summary

Pocahontas County High School is hiring a Custodian IV to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly learning environment. The role includes supervising custodial staff, cleaning classrooms and facilities, and assisting with minor repairs and preventive maintenance.

The position requires state compliance, ability to respond to emergencies, and coordination with maintenance personnel. Shift is 6:00 AM-2:00 PM, with employment for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year and 261 days annually

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required by WV code.
• Pass state prescribed exam per WV code.
• Background check required per WV code.
• Eligible to obtain licenses for water/wastewater systems.
• Respond to facility emergencies and perform inspections.

Responsibilities

• Head Custodian coordinates and oversees custodial operations.
• Performs routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, and facilities.
• Maintains floors and surfaces; cleans restrooms and restocks supplies.
• Inspects facilities and operates building systems for safe operation.
• Responds to facility emergencies and weather-related issues.
• Maintains grounds and assists with minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Operates water and wastewater systems and ensures regulatory compliance.
