Job summary

Head Custodian

Location: Maintenance Department

Reports to: Custodial Supervisor and Warehouse Supervisor

Purpose: An employee in this class performs a variety of manual activities cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the Carter Building, including Technology Department. The employee performs a variety of duties in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules. Duties includes receiving and shipping from vendors daily and pulling custodial orders for custodians from all site locations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency required
• Must hold valid NC Driver’s License
• Custodial and warehouse experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to operate pallet jack, forklift, tractors and lawn equipment
• Working knowledge of Rowan-Salisbury Schools cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Skills and knowledge in the use of custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
• Working knowledge and experience with Facility Tracker
• Basic knowledge and experience in loading and unloading trucks

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and sanitizing of building daily and as needed
• Cleaning and sanitizing at other RSS sites as needed
• Prioritize and complete daily work tickets
• Ensure grounds are cleared of debris on a daily basis
• Check all fire extinguishers and exit and emergency lights for safety inspections
• Maintain and upkeep of custodial equipment
• Maintain custodial inventory and order supplies as necessary
• Log and track daily shipment receipts and maintain records
• Assist with organizing new custodial staff trainings
• Scrub and clean rest rooms, general cleaning, receiving and checking in shipments during shipping/receiving hours
• Pulling inventory and delivery orders for custodial supplies, parts and equipment
• Other duties as needed and directed

Term of Employment: 12 months

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $16.30 to $20.25 Per Hour
