Job summary

Purpose

An employee in this class performs a variety of manual activities cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the Carter Building, including Technology Department. The employee performs a variety of duties in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules. Duties include receiving and shipping from vendors daily and pulling custodial orders for custodians from all site locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing of building daily and as needed
• Cleaning and sanitizing at other RSS sites as needed
• Prioritize and complete daily work tickets
• Ensure grounds are cleared of debris on a daily basis
• Check all fire extinguishers and exit and emergency lights for safety inspections
• Maintain and upkeep of custodial equipment
• Maintain custodial inventory and order supplies as necessary
• Log and track daily shipment receipts and maintain records
• Assist with organizing new custodial staff trainings
• Scrub and clean rest rooms, general cleaning, receiving and checking in shipments during shipping/receiving hours
• Pulling inventory and delivery orders for custodial supplies, parts and equipment
• Other duties as needed and directed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required
• Must hold valid NC Driver’s License
• Custodial and warehouse experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to operate pallet jack, forklift, tractors and lawn equipment
• Working knowledge of Rowan‑Salisbury Schools cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Skills and knowledge in the use of custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
• Working knowledge and experience with Facility Tracker
• Basic knowledge and experience in loading and unloading trucks
