Position Details

Purpose of the Position
Responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned building, ensuring facilities are maintained in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety. Supervises custodial staff, including seasonal employees, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma with leadership skills and supervisory experience
- Team-oriented with effective communication skills
- Willing to work various shifts and after-hours as needed
- Ability to operate heavy machinery if required
Essential Functions
- Perform and oversee repairs and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Provide daily maintenance and cleaning, including snow/ice removal
- Coordinate with principals and district officials on maintenance and supplies
- Assign and supervise custodial staff work schedules
- Inspect buildings and grounds regularly
- Recruit, evaluate, and manage custodial and maintenance personnel
- Maintain records and manage budgets
- Implement preventive maintenance programs
- Follow safety procedures and policies
Secondary Functions
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and functions of the school district and state education department
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks
- Use independent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Establish effective working relationships
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, hear, speak clearly
- Lift items of 50 lbs. regularly and 100 lbs. occasionally
