Job Purpose
To prepare food and assist with maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe cafeteria for students and workers.
Qualifications-Required
- High School Diploma with two years' experience in a relevant position
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Must be able to follow verbal and written directions
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic
- Must be proficient with all equipment needed to perform assigned duties with in the food service program.
- Must maintain a pleasant disposition.
- Must have good leadership skills and abilities
- Must be familiar with all facets of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010
- Must be able to stay in control and maintain the ability to make reasonable judgments in the event of a crisis situation.
- Must be able to keep confidentiality.
- Must be supportive of all management policies and procedures
- Displays a positive, courteous attitude towards all students
- Exhibits a helpful, positive, and friendly attitude towards all associates
- Is clean, well groomed, and wears the proper attire at all times as per district uniform policy
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Ability to pass the Criminal History Review
- Ability to passPre-employment Physical Exam
- Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure
Qualifications-Desired
- 2-3 years of experience as an Assistant Cook
- 2-3 years of experience working in a school environment
Knowledge of the federal, state, and county regulations regarding school meals
Duties/Responsibilities
- Give direction to the associates in the school's cafeteria operation
- Prepare on-site cooking of food as needed according to established procedures
- Maintain accurate quantities of quality food items needed throughout the meal service
- Maintaining production records in their entirety for the breakfast and lunch periods
- Ordering of food and supplies needed for on-site production
- Accepting and checking in all supplies delivered to the cafeteria
- Preparation of inventory on designated due dates
- Reporting any maintenance problems in the kitchen to the food service director or dining service office personnel
- Reporting any emergency situations to the building administration and food service director
- Effectively communicating any issues related to the school's nutrition program to the food service director
- Maintain all refrigeration and ware washing equipment temperature logs
- Maintain all food temperature logs in accordance to the county department of health
- Maintains all health and safety standards in accordance with the Atlantic County Health Department
- Must be able to schedule and create healthy and enticing meals for students
- Must be proficient in reducing food waste and recommend ideas for cost management
- Perform any other duties or services as necessary to maintain an efficient food service operation
