Job summary

Forest Hills Schools is seeking an Assistant Head Cook to supervise and assist in the preparation of all food in our school kitchen. The role reports to the Head Cook and is part time, non-exempt under FLSA, with responsibilities for ordering, inventory, sanitation, and daily operations.

The candidate should be a high school graduate with a sincere desire to aid students, good health, character, and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare food according to menus and established recipes with HACCP procedures.
• Order food, baking items and supplies as needed.
• Check in food and supplies on arrival for accuracy and pricing.
• Maintain orderly storerooms, refrigerators, and inventories.
• Instruct staff on proper attire and sanitation procedures.
• Supervise daily kitchen cleaning to meet health standards.
• Notify Head Cook of repairs and maintenance needs.
• Train new staff on responsibilities and procedures; foster teamwork.
• Assign duties to cafeteria personnel as needed.
• Monitor daily transaction sheets, receipts and deposits per district procedures.
• Ensure timely completion of time sheets, invoices, inventories, and reports; direct to Food Service Supervisor."
• Lock doors and turn off lights/equipment at close.
• Attend trainings and continue education as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head Cook or Food Service Supervisor.

General Description : Supervise and assist in the preparation of all food.

Essential Functions

1. Prepare food as outlined on the menus using established recipes that include HACCP
   procedures. Utilize and document production records. Communicates daily with Head Cook
   for quality control and quantities of food production.
2. Order food, baking items and supplies as needed.
3. Check in food and supplies as they arrive to ensure correct amount, prices, and items on
   invoice.
4. Maintain inventory of the storeroom, refrigerator/ freezer in a neat, clean and efficient
   manner to be able to order efficiently and keep inventories at a minimum.
5. Instruct all employees on proper attire and sanitation procedures.
6. Supervise and assist in daily cleaning of the kitchen to ensure meeting the requirements set
   by the Board of Health.
7. Report all necessary repairs to the Head Cook.
8. Instruct new personnel in job responsibilities and procedures. Encourage employees to work
   together as a team to accomplish goals.
9. Assign cafeteria personnel various duties as needed.
10. Check daily transaction sheets, receipts and deposit money. Follow district money-handling
    procedures.
11. Be responsible for the on-time completion of time sheets, bills, monthly inventories,
    monthly reports; and direct to the office of Food Service Supervisor.
12. Be responsible for locking all doors and turning off all lights and equipment when leaving
    the kitchen at the end of the day.
13. Attend meetings as scheduled for the purpose of training and continuing education.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Food Service Supervisor.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS
