Job summary

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable Head Cook for our school food service program in Storm Lake. You’ll lead daily production, follow recipes, and support special diets while ensuring a tasty, nutritious menu for students.

You’ll maintain HACCP logs, manage inventory and storage using FIFO, train team members, and participate in serving-time readiness. This daytime, Monday–Friday schedule supports work‑life balance and school-year rhythms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1 year cooking experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication and reliability.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily food production by preparing high-quality meals, following recipes and supporting special diets.
• Maintain clean work areas and oversee storage with FIFO; complete HACCP logs and inventories.
• Ensure food safety and maintain a healthy, compliant workspace.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, prep lists, freezer pulls, and serving during meal times.
• Train team members and fill in for other kitchen duties when needed.

Location: On-site at Storm Lake Community school District

Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:30am-1:30pm

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable, team‑focused Head Cook to join our school food service program. What You’ll Do

• Lead daily food production by preparing high‑quality meals, following recipes, supporting special diets, and helping with catering and serving‑time readiness.
• Keep the kitchen organized and compliant by maintaining clean work areas, overseeing storage organization using FIFO, completing HACCP logs, production records, inventories, and participation tracking.
• Support food safety by monitoring safe practices and maintaining a healthy, compliant workspace.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, prep lists, freezer pulls, and serving during meal times.
• Help train team members and fill in for other kitchen duties when needed.

What You Bring

• HS Diploma or GED Preferred
• 1 year of cooking experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, and other physical tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and convert quantities for large batches.
• Dependability, integrity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
