Job summary

The National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of NIH, seeks an exceptional scientist to serve as Chief of the Computational Health Research Branch in Bethesda, Maryland. The selected candidate will lead CHRB with a focus on AI, machine learning, health informatics, and large-scale biomedical data analysis to advance NIH priorities and improve health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific field.
• Record of significant scientific contributions and leadership in computational health sciences.
• Experience leading independent, multidisciplinary research programs.
• Ability to translate computational research into biomedical applications.
• Evidence of national or international recognition via invited talks, awards, or honors.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership and strategic direction for CHRB's research portfolio.
• Lead an independent, internationally recognized research program in computational health sciences.
• Oversee development of AI, machine learning, health informatics, epidemiology, biostatistics, and large-scale data analytics.
• Mentor investigators, postdoctoral fellows, trainees, and other scientists.
• Foster collaborations across NLM, NIH, and external partners to advance CHRB priorities.
