Job summary

Columbia-Montour AVTS School is seeking an athletics/coaching professional to supervise the wrestling program and assist with program development and compliance. You will work under the athletic director and principal to ensure proper conduct, safety, and adherence to league rules.

The role requires coordination with assistant coaches, management of equipment, and timely program reviews after each season. Position follows a yearly contract under the existing collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to the principal and athletic director for supervising the entire wrestling program and assistant coaches.
• Oversee conduct of team members on/off the field and during road trips.
• Recommend equipment purchases and ensure coaches do not place personal orders.
• Ensure participants are certified by physician and parent before participation.
• Observe eligibility and sportsmanship rules per PIAA and league.
• Recommend hiring and retention of staff for the sport.
• Meet with athletic director within 30 days after season to review program and staff.
• Coordinate with assistant coaches to implement the basic wrestling program at Columbia-Montour AVTS.

JOB GOAL

To use leadership and supervisory skills to provide the students of the Columbia-Montour AVTS with a broad and comprehensive co-curricular program and to promote student interest and encourage student participation in the program by the greatest number of students possible.

PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be responsible to the principal and athletic director for the supervision of the entire wrestling program, including the duties of the assistant coaches.
• Have responsibility for the conduct of the team members on or off the playing field and during all road trips.
• Recommend to the athletic director equipment for purchase. Coaches may not place their own orders for any equipment.
• Observe the regulation that candidates for athletic squads be certified by both physician and parent before participating in any sports, either practice sessions or scheduled games or events.
• Be responsible for observing the rules of eligibility and sportsmanship as outlined by the PIAA and of any league in which the team is a participant.
• Recommend to the athletic director the hiring and retention of all staff personnel in the sport annually.
• Within thirty days of the completion of the season, meet with the athletic director to review the past season as to program, equipment, schedule and staff.
• Coordinate with the assistant coaches the basic wrestling program to be used at Columbia-Montour AVTS and be responsible to see that this program is carried out.
