Job summary

Columbia Montour AVTS is seeking a Head Coach - Wrestling to provide leadership and supervision for the wrestling program. You will oversee all aspects of the team, on-field conduct, and road trips, coordinating with assistant coaches to implement the Columbia-Montour AVTS wrestling program.

The role requires ensuring eligibility and sportsmanship per PIAA rules, coordinating equipment needs, and annual staff decisions. The position reports to the Athletic Director and Building Principal.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to the principal and athletic director for the supervision of the entire wrestling program, including the duties of the assistant coaches.
• Have responsibility for the conduct of the team members on or off the playing field and during all road trips.
• Recommend to the athletic director equipment for purchase. Coaches may not place their own orders for any equipment.
• Observe the regulation that candidates for athletic squads be certified by both physician and parent before participating in any sports, either practice sessions or scheduled games or events.
• Be responsible for observing the rules of eligibility and sportsmanship as outlined by the PIAA and of any league in which the team is a participant.
• Recommend to the athletic director the hiring and retention of all staff personnel in the sport annually.
• Within thirty days of the completion of the season, meet with the athletic director to review the past season as to program, equipment, schedule and staff.
• Coordinate with the assistant coaches the basic wrestling program to be used at Columbia-Montour AVTS and be responsible to see that this program is carried out.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director and Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To use leadership and supervisory skills to provide the students of the Columbia-Montour AVTS with a broad and comprehensive co-curricular program and to promote student interest and encourage student participation in the program by the greatest number of students possible.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Yearly contract. Salary as per current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

SELECTION: Appointment shall be by the Joint Operating Committee following the recommendation of the Administrative Director.

EVALUATION: Annually by Athletic Director, and/or Principal.
