Job description

The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program, including recruiting, training, and mentoring student-athletes to achieve success on and off the field. This position requires a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the role includes administrative duties supporting the broader operations of the athletic department, which will be assigned based on the candidate's experience and strengths. This dual responsibility offers an opportunity to contribute strategically to departmental goals while building a highly successful and inclusive lacrosse program.

Essential Functions:

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program, including planning practices, game strategies, and player development. Recruit and retain talented student-athletes committed to academic and athletic success. Foster a team culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, inclusivity, and the holistic development of student-athletes. Manage program logistics, including scheduling, travel, equipment, and budget oversight. Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Collaborate with university partners on fundraising, community engagement, and promotional activities to enhance the program's visibility and support. Perform additional administrative duties to support the department, such as event management, compliance, or student-athlete development initiatives, tailored to the candidate's strengths and experience. Serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes, supporting their academic, personal, and career goals. Uphold the institution’s mission and values while striving to achieve competitive success.

Technical Lacrosse Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the game, including strategy, player development, and program management. Recruiting Expertise: Proven ability to identify and recruit talented student-athletes who align with the program's values and academic standards. Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with student-athletes, colleagues, alumni, and other stakeholders. Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a collaborative athletic department and contribute to the institution's broader mission. Commitment to Student-Athlete Success: Dedication to supporting student-athletes' academic, personal, and professional development. Technological Proficiency: Competence with software and tools related to program management, recruitment, and communication. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and program logistics, efficiently and effectively.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

AND

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of coaching experience, preferably as a head coach at the collegiate level, with demonstrated success in player development and competitive performance.
