Job summary

Powers Catholic High School is seeking a Head Girls Lacrosse Coach to lead the girls lacrosse program. This part-time, exempt role reports to the Athletics Director and follows the MHSAA season.

Responsibilities include leadership, mentoring, program development, student-athlete development, coaching, communication, and administration. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree (preferred), coaching experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with coaching coursework and teaching certificate preferred.
• Valid driver's license, and first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with high school girls lacrosse or similar program is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, organize, and administer the girls lacrosse program in alignment with school policies.
• Mentor junior coaches and communicate with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Collaborate with coaches and school groups to develop goals and off-season training.
• Develop practice plans, set team standards, and adjust strategies during contests.
• Maintain positive relationships with athletes and the school community.
• Manage program budgets, equipment, eligibility, and injury records; ensure deadlines and safety procedures.

Core Responsibilities

• Leadership & Mentoring
• Uphold Catholic education values and act as a role model for students and staff.
• Mentor subordinate coaches and provide channels for feedback from students, coaches, and the community.
• Represent the program to booster groups and maintain professional standards.
• Program Development
• Collaborate with other coaches and school groups.
• Set program goals, coordinate instructional approaches, and support off-season training.
• Engage in professional development.
• Student-Athlete Development
• Monitor academic performance and support student-athletes' health and safety.
• Involve athletes in service projects and foster their full potential.
• Coaching
• Use effective teaching and motivational techniques.
• Develop and assess practice plans and team standards.
• Adjust strategies during contests as needed.
• Communication & Relationships
• Build positive relationships with athletes, parents, staff, and the broader school community.
• Participate in school service and campus activities beyond lacrosse.
• Administration & Organization
• Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and deadlines.
• Manage program budgets, equipment, eligibility, and injury records.
• Prepare for emergencies and evaluate subordinate coaches.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred), coursework in coaching, and valid teaching certificate (preferred).
• Valid driver's license, first aid, concussion, and CPR certification.
• Experience with high school girls lacrosse (playing/coaching).
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use technology for program management.
• Must pass background checks and complete required workshops.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Requires talking, hearing, handling objects, standing, walking, jogging, and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs).
• Work environment is typically low to moderate noise.
