Job summary

Charles River Rugby United (CRRU) is seeking a Coach for the 2026 Spring and Fall seasons and beyond. The club, based in South Boston, is a community-driven rugby program looking for a collaborative, communicative leader to design effective practices, guide match-day strategy, and support ongoing player and team development with the captains.

The Head Coach role is based in Massachusetts and is a volunteer position with paid aspects.

Qualifications

• Prior rugby playing and/or coaching experience.
• USA Rugby Level 1 Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Commitment to CRRU’s Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead two weekly practices on Tue and Thu evenings with inclusive sessions for varying skill levels.
• Attend and coach all scheduled matches, collaborating with captains on roster selections.
• Communicate openly with players regarding selections, playing time, and development, fostering a positive team culture.
• Work closely with club leadership and maintain professionalism with league officials.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead (2) weekly practices on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with structured, inclusive sessions that accommodate varying skill levels while preparing for league competition.
• Attend and coach all scheduled matches, collaborating with captains on roster selections and game management.
• Communicate openly with players regarding selections, playing time, and development, fostering a positive and cohesive team culture.
• Work closely with club leadership and maintain professionalism with league officials and governing bodies.

Requirements

• Prior rugby playing and/or coaching experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• USA Rugby Level 1 Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Commitment to upholding CRRU’s Code of Conduct.
