Job summary

Red Rabbit in Bronx, NY seeks a Head Chef, In-School, to lead a high-volume school kitchen and deliver scratch-made meals. You will manage daily operations, train staff, and ensure strict food safety while engaging with students and school staff.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in fast-paced kitchens, 1+ year leadership, and a passion for nutrition in schools. Location is Bronx; competitive compensation includes PTO and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years professional culinary experience in a fast paced, high-volume kitchen.
• 1+ years supervisory/management experience.
• Bachelor degree in culinary arts a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Must be comfortable using software/apps/spreadsheets to track and report data.
• Excellent communication skills and be extremely well organized.
• Familiarity with NSLP compliance requirements a plus.
• Must share our passion for improving nutrition and health in schools.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• ServeSafe Certificate required within 90 days of hire. (Reimbursement available)

Responsibilities

• Culinary Management: Directly responsible for daily culinary execution and a food-safe kitchen.
• Leadership: Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members to foster cohesion.
• Administration: Adhere to production schedules and submit consumption numbers and reports.
• Customer Service: Build relationships with teachers, administrators, and parents; educate through nutrition presentations.
