Job summary

Oakland Care in Enfield is seeking a Head Chef to lead the kitchen and dining service across the home, delivering nutritious, appealing menus while upholding health, safety and hygiene standards.

You will manage budgets, orders, stock, and rota planning, recruit and train staff, and mentor a team to provide exceptional meals for residents, with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a senior kitchen role with high quality service.
• Solid understanding of HACCP, nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Impeccable leadership and communication skills.
• Intermediate food hygiene certificate is required.
• Experience recruiting and training your own team.

Responsibilities

• Leading the Kitchen and Dining service across the home in line with Health, Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations.
• Deliver safe, nutritious and appealing menu options including therapeutic diets.
• Ordering, receipting and maintaining catering spend within the food budget.
• Managing stock levels and completing catering audits.
• Rotas and staffing coverage to ensure service continuity.

Location: Elsyng House, 1 Forty Hill, Enfield EN2 9HT

Hours: 40 hours per week

Pay: £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent

Shift: Days (5 x 8 hour days including some weekends and Bank Holidays)

What you will be doing:

• Leading the Kitchen and Dining service across the home in line with Health, Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations.
• Deliver safe, nutritious and appealing menu options including therapeutic diets.
• Ordering, receipting and accurately maintaining and monitoring catering spend within the allocated food budget.
• Responsibility for managing, maintaining and recording stock levels and completing catering audits.
• Managing your team's rota to ensure sufficient coverage including during absence to maintain operational continuity.

What you need to succeed:

• Experience in working as a Senior Chef/Chef within a high quality service, ideally within a setting where you have had to deal with different dietary requirements and allergens.
• Good understanding of HACCP, nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Impeccable leadership and communication skills.
• Possess Intermediate food hygiene certificate.
• Experience of recruiting, inducting and training your own team.
