Job summary

Healthcare Homes Group is seeking an Assistant Chef for Foxearth Lodge in Saxtead. The role supports the Head Chef, manages the kitchen in their absence, and helps deliver nutritious meals for 67 residents.

The position is on-site, 33 hours per week, with alternate weekends. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development through our Healthcare Homes Academy.

Qualifications

• Experience in working in a professional kitchen.
• Good organisational skills.
• Knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards.
• City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked to high quality and standards.
• Manage stock control and wastage.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support the Head Chef with planning weekly menus, ordering and minimising wastage.

£12.91 per hour

33 hours per week (includes alternate weekends)

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to join our kitchen team in our lovely nursing home, Foxearth Lodge in Saxtead , catering for 67residents.

Foxearth Lodge provides nursing, residential, respite and dementia care to residents within the area of Saxtead in Suffolk. The home can also provide care for younger people with physical disabilities. The environment within the home is calming and cheerful among staff and residents – there is a real family feel.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
