Five Iron Golf is the country's premier indoor golf and entertainment experience, with 26 locations nationwide and more on the way. Its core mission is to seamlessly meld golf and entertainment, making golf inclusive and accessible for all.

Role Overview

The Head Chef is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing kitchen staff dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences. The role involves evaluating and improving the menu, offering high-value, high-quality options for events and individual guests, and ensuring the kitchen operates effectively, efficiently, and financially sound.

Responsibilities

  1. Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  2. Hire and oversee onboarding of culinary team members.
  3. Create and maintain a culture of accountability, setting clear expectations and holding team members responsible for their performance.
  4. Coach and develop Sous Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure consistent and high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  5. Set the standard for culinary excellence and hold the team accountable for maintaining these standards.
  6. Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, and food safety compliance.
  7. Ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations during all service periods, maintaining a smooth and timely flow of service.
  8. Partner with the General Manager - Social to align kitchen operations with overall business goals, including maintaining budgeted food and labor costs and executing events.
  9. Continuously enhance and update the in-house event menu to reflect current culinary trends and guest preferences, while maintaining Five Iron Golf's brand identity.
  10. Develop and test new recipes, ensuring they meet quality and cost standards.
  11. Collaborate with the beverage program to create complementary food and drink pairings.
  12. Develop and execute innovative culinary offerings for events, including corporate functions, private parties, and special occasions.
  13. Collaborate with the events team to design menus and ensure seamless culinary execution during events.
  14. Maintain high standards of presentation and service to deliver exceptional event experiences.
  15. Address guest feedback promptly and professionally, using feedback to improve culinary offerings.
  16. Foster a culture of hospitality within the kitchen team, ensuring positive guest interactions.
  17. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors for quality ingredients and cost-effective purchasing.
  18. Work with the General Manager and VP of Culinary to develop strategic initiatives that drive growth and profitability.
  19. Act as a brand ambassador for Five Iron Golf at industry events and in the community.

Qualifications

  1. Culinary school degree or professional certifications such as CEC, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum 5 years of culinary leadership in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  3. Proven ability to build and lead high-performing kitchen teams.
  4. Strong culinary expertise, passion for food and innovation.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  7. Knowledge of Google suite and restaurant management software.
  8. English fluency required; Spanish skills are a plus.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000/year

Type: Full-time, Exempt
