Job summary

Southwest Baptist University Athletics in Bolivar, MO seeks a Head Cheer/Stunt Coach to lead and supervise the cheer/stunt program while upholding NCAA rules and SBU standards. You will manage travel, equipment, and game-day activities, and coordinate recruitment efforts and mascot roles.

You’ll oversee team-building initiatives, engage in marketing promotions for events, and support student-athlete academic progress. Occasional travel and weekend work are required.

Responsibilities

• Makes travel arrangements for both cheer and stunt programs.
• Prepare jerseys and equipment for sideline performance and stunt competitions.
• Help organize and lead team building activities.
• Coaches student-athletes during scheduled games and/or contests.
• Serves as primary contact for scheduling games.
• Ensures a balanced budget.
• Monitors academic progress of student-athletes.
• Complies with NCAA, GLVC, and SBU rules and regulations.
• Assists in recruitment activities.
• Supervises and coordinates SBU Mascot activities and roles.
• Serves as primary contact when other departments request presence of spirit team/mascot.
• Leads Marketing Promotions for events/games.
• Develops halftime activities and promotions for home games.

Summary/Objective

All positions in the Department of Athletics are responsible to help student-athletes fulfill the stated missions of Southwest Baptist University and the Department of Athletics.

• Makes travel arrangements for both cheer and stunt programs
• Prepare jerseys and equipment for sideline performance and stunt competitions
• Help organize and lead team building activities
• Can create online content and maintain cheer/stunt social media accounts
• Coaches student-athletes during scheduled games and / or contests
• Serves as primary contact for scheduling games
• Ensures a balanced budget
• Monitors academic progress of student-athletes
• Complies with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, GLVC, and SBU
• Assists in activities hosted by SBU to facilitate recruitment
• Will supervise and coordinate the SBU Mascot activities and roles
• Serves as primary contact when other departments on campus request presence of spirit team/mascot
• Works in cooperation with department members to strengthen all sports programs
• Work with Athletic Administrative Team to lead Marketing Promotions for Events/Games
• Goal of an activity each halftime for Football Games, something at Basketball games halftime when University is in session.
• Have one activity for each sport at home games/events where we do a promotion

Physical Abilities

• Must be able to operate and / or maneuver equipment used for the daily training of student-athletes for the sport of volleyball.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as a personal computer, photocopies, printer, etc.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid Missouri Driver’s License.
• Must be able to climb stairs, work in varying temperatures and sit and stand for long periods of time.
