Job summary

David Douglas School District in Portland, OR seeks a Head Baseball Coach at David Douglas High School to lead the baseball program and supervise all teams and coaches.

You will schedule practices, coordinate tryouts, design workouts, and develop an offseason program while ensuring student safety and compliance with district policies. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and a deep knowledge of baseball fundamentals; CPR/First Aid and concussion trainings are required.

Responsibilities

• In coordination with the Athletic Director, plans and implements the scheduling of team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, and summer activities.
• Create and implement workouts/drills and run effective practices.
• Create an offseason/summer program that fosters player/team improvement.
• Responsible for the safety of the team before, during, and after events and travel.

Job Requirements – Qualifications:

• Experience Preferred: Prior job related experience in coaching with increasing levels of responsibility. Knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision.
• Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: ? Skills to effectively communicate in verbal and written modes with student/athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and other school staff. Strong leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills. ? Knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, student supervision, and district policies. ? Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedules and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perceptions/accommodation/field of vision.
• Licensed, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Current CPR/First Aid certification, current Concussion Management and other trainings required by the OSAA.
