Job description

Support the health, safety, and success of student-athletes in ahands-on role leading athletic training services across theathletics program. The Head Athletic Trainer provides injuryassessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care whiledeveloping and implementing injury prevention strategies inpartnership with coaches and student-athletes. The position alsocoordinates physical exams, athletic training coverage for home andaway events, injury documentation, insurance processes, and ongoingcommunication with student-athletes, families, coaches, andhealthcare providers.

This role serves as a key resource for the athletics department,helping ensure student-athletes receive consistent, timely, andprofessional care throughout their participation. Responsibilitiesalso include maintaining athletic training equipment and supplies,coordinating medical coverage for camps and special events,developing and updating policies and emergency action plans, andensuring compliance with applicable college and athletic governingbody requirements. Building strong relationships with areahealthcare professionals and graduate athletic training programs isalso an important part of the position.

We're looking for an experienced athletic training professionalwith strong knowledge of injury recognition, treatment,rehabilitation, and prevention. The ideal candidate is calm anddecisive in emergency situations, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strongcommunication and relationship-building skills are essential, alongwith the ability to work effectively with student-athletes,coaches, families, medical providers, and campus partners. Thesuccessful candidate will bring sound professional judgment,ethical standards, and a commitment to providing high-quality careand support to student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and three years full-timeequivalent related experience and/or training; or a Master's degree and one-year full-time equivalent related experience and/or training.

Required License and/or Certifications
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association(ATC)
  • Licensure by the Idaho State Board of Medicine (LAT)
  • Basic Life Support/Professional Rescuer or Beyondcertification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Current valid Driver’s License
Starting pay range:

$59,888 - $71,865

Pay Grade:

P7
