Job summary

The YMCA of the Roses is seeking a Head Age Group Coach to lead and grow our competitive swimming program in a positive, supportive environment. You will develop swimmers of all levels, mentor assistants, and foster teamwork, confidence, and excellence in the pool.

This role emphasizes youth development, competitive swimming, and community impact within a nonprofit setting. You will collaborate with the Executive Director and Head Coach to uphold YMCA values and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• At least 2 years of coaching similar swim teams.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification, Lifeguarding and/or Coaches Safety.
• USA and YMCA coach certification within 1 month of hire.
• Criminal background checks: state police clearance, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprint clearance.
• Mandated reporter clearance and required trainings within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and plans practices for developmental and junior age group squads, serving as primary JR B coach and assisting for other groups.
• Oversees 3–10 assistant coaches in Junior and Development streams.
• Assists with planning and facilitation of dryland sessions for various groups.
• Develops and manages the competitive swimming program in line with USA Swimming and YMCA standards.
• Maintains safety, cleanliness and proper facility usage on-site and for off-site activities.
