Job summary

The YMCA of the Roses is seeking a Head Age Group Coach at our Graham Aquatic Center to lead and grow our competitive swimming program in a positive, community-focused environment.

You will develop swimmers of all levels, mentor assistant coaches, and promote teamwork, safety, and excellence in the pool while upholding YMCA standards and youth development values across practices and meets.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18
• 2+ years coaching similar swim teams
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification, Lifeguarding and/or Coaches Safety
• USA Swimming and YMCA coach certification within 1 month of hire
• Background checks: state police, child abuse, FBI fingerprinting, Mandated Reporter
• Complete all required trainings within 1 month of hire

Responsibilities

• Prepares and plans practices per developmental group standards; JR B squad lead, assist for Pre-Team, Advanced and Novice.
• Oversees 3-10 assistant coaches in Junior and Development.
• Plans and facilitates dryland sessions for various groups.
• Develops and manages the competitive program per USA Swimming and YMCA standards.
• Supports program growth and new approaches to meet participants’ needs.
• Supervises on-site facilities and equipment, ensures cleanliness and proper usage.
• Maintains records and supervises swimmers, ensures a positive learning environment.
• Attends team meets and assists with setup/cleanup and fundraising activities.
• Engages with parents and attends team functions; pursues professional development opportunities.
